Decades and Dunes: A Journey of Faith, Reflection and Renewal

October 17–18, 2026 | Sernabatim Beach and Don Bosco Animation Centre, Benaulim

Organised by Team Rhythm and the Crew of the Don Bosco Youth Paschers, Decades and Dunes was an overnight spiritual retreat held on October 17–18, 2026. Rooted in the spirit of the Season of Creation, the retreat offered Paschers an opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life and deepen their relationship with God through prayer, reflection, fellowship, and a renewed commitment to Christ.

The retreat commenced at Sernabatim Beach (Furtado’s), where participants gathered for registration and a series of icebreakers that fostered fellowship and camaraderie. This was followed by a reflective beach walk, during which participants journeyed along the shoreline, pausing at designated points for moments of silence, contemplation, and personal reflection. Surrounded by the beauty and tranquillity of creation, they were invited to slow down, listen to God, and become more attentive to His presence in their lives.

After a refreshing break for tea and snacks, participants engaged in three interactive team-building activities that encouraged cooperation, unity, and joyful participation. These activities served as a reminder of the importance of community and the bonds shared among the Paschers.

As the sun descended over the horizon, the gathering took on a deeply prayerful atmosphere. Participants came together to pray the Angelus and recite the Holy Rosary, entrusting their intentions to the intercession of Mother Mary. Praying by the sea provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on Mary's unwavering faith and her role in leading the faithful closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

The group subsequently proceeded to the Don Bosco Animation Centre in Benaulim, where participants freshened up and shared dinner before entering into the spiritual heart of the retreat. The evening continued with a vibrant session of Praise and Worship, creating a space for participants to praise God, surrender to His divine will, and reflect on His goodness and unfailing love. This was followed by late-night Eucharistic Adoration, during which participants spent time in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, deepening their faith through silence, prayer, and personal surrender.

The following morning began with an outdoor Walk & Rock Meditation, centred on the Parable of the Sower. Through this reflection, participants were invited to examine the condition of their hearts, consider how they receive and nurture God's Word, and reflect on their individual Paschal pledges. The meditation offered a meaningful opportunity to renew their commitment to living out their faith with greater purpose, sincerity, and dedication.

The retreat concluded with breakfast, followed by a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Fr Austin, bringing the gathering to a fitting close in prayer and thanksgiving.

More than just an overnight retreat, Decades and Dunes was a journey of spiritual renewal, rooted in the beauty of creation and strengthened through prayer, fellowship, and the Eucharist. It provided the Paschers with a valuable opportunity to disconnect from their daily routines, reconnect with their Creator, and draw closer to Christ under the loving intercession of Mother Mary.

As the participants returned to their everyday lives, they carried with them not only the memories of a meaningful retreat but also a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper commitment to their Paschal journey. Decades and Dunes served as a reminder that when we pause to listen, surrender in faith, and open our hearts to God's Word, we allow Him to transform us from within.
