Formation session for Our Lady of Pillar Church, Searulim Goa
On 21st June 2026 the Seraulim Parish Youth celebrated the annual youth ceremony. As part of the youth inaugural programme, a formation session was conducted by Fr. Austin Fernandes to encourage interaction, participation, and team bonding among the youth members.
The session begin with an ice-breaking game for the youth. Music was played, and the participants moved around until the music stopped, after which they were asked to form groups. Four groups were formed, each consisting of seven members. The first activity involved rearranging jumbled Bible-related words into the correct words. The aim of this activity was to assess the youth's knowledge of the Bible while encouraging teamwork and participation. Group 3 scored the highest points and was declared the winner. Following the activity, Father spoke about the importance of spiritual growth within the youth group. He emphasized the need for proper formation, strong relationships among members, and growing together in faith, love, and unity in Christ.
The second activity focused on communication and teamwork. One member from each group was shown a drawing and then had to describe it to the next member, who attempted to recreate it on paper. This process continued with each member of the group. As the drawing was passed along, it became increasingly difficult to recreate accurately. The group that recreated the drawing most successfully received a prize from Father. At the conclusion of the activity, Father explained the importance of effective communication within the youth group. He encouraged members to maintain good communication with one another, the parish priest, and the youth animator. He highlighted that strong communication helps build better relationships, promotes unity, and enables the youth group to function more effectively.
The session was both engaging and meaningful, providing the youth with valuable lessons on teamwork, communication, and spiritual growth while strengthening the bonds within the group.
