The 7:7 Quest - Seek. Find. Pray
On September 14, 2026, the Don Bosco Youth Centre, Benaulim, in collaboration with the Museum of Christian Art (MoCA), organized the 7:7 Quest - “Seek. Find. Pray” heritage walk and treasure hunt in Old Goa. The journey commenced at approximately 11:00 a.m. from the iconic Viceroy’s Arch. Over the course of the day, participants journeyed through a carefully curated route of Old Goa’s most historic and religiously significant landmarks, including the Church of St. Cajetan, Sé Cathedral, Church of St. Francis of Assisi, the Basilica of Bom Jesus, the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Museum of Christian Art, the Church of Santa Monica, the Church of Our Lady of Grace, St. Augustine’s Tower, the Royal Chapel of St. Anthony, and the Convent of Santa Monica.
To commemorate the experience, each participant received a commemorative pen and postcard at the start of the walk. After touring each specific location, attendees collected a corresponding visual sticker to place onto their postcards, creating a complete, personalized artistic keepsake of the day's itinerary. Alongside this interactive tracking, engaging treasure hunt challenges were integrated into the walk, motivating the youth to carefully observe architectural elements, cooperate in teams, and solve location-based clues. Benjamin Monserrate from MoCA accompanied the group as the main guide, enriching the experience by sharing lesser-known historical anecdotes and structural stories about the sacred heritage sites.
Beyond its educational value, the initiative served as an excellent platform for community fellowship. Moving between churches allowed the youth to discuss local history, bond over shared experiences, and build new friendships. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the event as an ideal blend of entertainment, historical education, and spiritual enrichment. During the final segment, Monserrate challenged the youth to carry this knowledge back to their respective home parishes to actively notice, appreciate, and champion the preservation of local sacred art.
The day concluded with the celebration of Holy Mass on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Coming together in liturgical prayer after a rigorous day of exploration provided a fitting spiritual resolution for the participants to contemplate the significance of the Cross. Ultimately, the 7:7 Quest succeeded not merely as a treasure hunt, but as a meaningful day of discovery, faith, and friendship centered on appreciating Goa’s rich Christian heritage.
