The Burning Bush
The Burning Bush was successfully held on 12th July, 2026 at the Don Bosco Animation Centre, Benaulim, bringing together Catholic youth for a spiritually enriching day dedicated to deepening their faith, strengthening their relationship with God, and fostering fellowship with one another.
The day commenced with participant registration, followed by light refreshments that provided everyone with a warm and welcoming start. This was followed by a series of lively ice-breaker activities where participants introduced themselves, interacted with one another, and took part in an energetic action song. These activities created a joyful atmosphere, helping everyone feel comfortable and connected from the very beginning.
The major session of the day was conducted by Fr. Bernadinho De Almeida sdb, who delivered an insightful talk on Mass Etiquette and the Holy Eucharist. Through inspiring reflections, real-life Eucharistic miracles, and thought-provoking videos, he explained the significance of the Eucharist and the sacred objects used during the celebration of the Holy Mass. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining proper reverence and simple etiquette during the liturgy. The interactive session concluded with a lively question-and-answer segment, allowing participants to clarify their doubts and gain a deeper appreciation of the Eucharist.
Following the session, the participants gathered for the Eucharistic Celebration, celebrated by Fr. Simao Fernandes sdb. Before the Offertory, each participant was given a paper heart along with a small piece of paper on which they were invited to write their personal intentions, prayers, hopes, and worries. They then placed their written intentions inside the heart and, during the Offertory, offered these hearts at the altar as a symbolic act of surrendering themselves and their intentions to the Lord. This meaningful gesture beautifully reflected their trust in God's love and providence. The prayerful and uplifting Eucharistic celebration was followed by a fellowship lunch, where participants enjoyed a delicious meal together.
The afternoon resumed on an energetic note with an interactive activity that refreshed and re-energized everyone after lunch. Participants were then divided into four groups and presented with thought-provoking case studies based on real-life situations. Through meaningful discussions, each group reflected on how faith can guide individuals through life's challenges and how God's love always offers hope, regardless of one's circumstances. Every group presented its insights, after which Fr. Austin offered valuable reflections and a broader Christian perspective on the topics discussed. The session encouraged participants to make faith-filled decisions and inspired them to grow spiritually in their everyday lives.
As the day drew to a close, everyone entered into a peaceful time of Eucharistic Adoration. In an atmosphere of silence and prayer, participants experienced a profound encounter with the Lord, reflecting on the symbolism of the Burning Bush as a reminder of God's holy presence. During the adoration, the written intentions were reverently burned, symbolizing complete trust in God and the surrender of every burden into His loving hands. It was a deeply moving and memorable spiritual experience that strengthened the faith of all present.
The event concluded with evening tea, where participants spent time interacting, sharing experiences, and building lasting friendships. The Burning Bush 2026 proved to be much more than just a gathering—it was a transformative journey of faith, learning, reflection, and community. The day left every participant with a renewed understanding of the Holy Eucharist, a deeper relationship with God, and a greater commitment to living as faithful Christians.
