Empowered in Faith: A Memorable Formation Programme for St. Joseph Vaz Youth Group for St. Joseph Vaz, Hubli
On 6th July 2025, St Joseph Vaz Mass Centre, Sutgatti-Hubli, witnessed a Salesian Youth Faith Formation Program conducted for all the vibrant youth of Mass Centre at Don Bosco Academy Sutgatti, Hubli. The Youth Formation Program unfolded with energy, faith, and purpose. The event was led and guided by Fr Kiran Nazareth sdb an energetic and dynamic youth animator of Don Bosco Shirva Udupi, who stressed in his sessions the mission of nurturing the spiritual, emotional, and leadership potential of our youth in the Mass Centre. The program brought together 15 enthusiastic participants from St. Joseph Vaz Mass Centre, eager to grow in their faith and discover their role in the Church and the society.
The day began with a solemn prayer invoking the assistance and guidance of the Holy Spirit and welcome to the resource person, followed by an inspiring and motivating sessions on participation of Youth in the Church and group dynamics to build up the recently formed youth group by Rev. Fr. Kiran Nazareth sdb who reminded the youth of their unique place and participation in the life of the Church as well as to build up a strong and dynamic youth group to together and cultivate collaboative spirit among the youth group. His words set the tone for a day filled with reflection, learning, and joy.
The first session, “Faith and Identity”, focused on rediscovering our Catholic roots — the meaning of the sacraments, the power of prayer, and the call to holiness. The engaging talk by Resource Person helped the youth reflect on their personal faith journey and their contribution to the Church.
In the second session Fr. Kiran enlightened the youth by speaking about the group dynamics conducting three group activity. The participants were encouraged to be proactive, lively, faith-filled leaders through discussions and real-life examples, they were inspired to be agents of chang and build a strong youth group based on spirit of understanding, collaborating and cooperating each other for achieving greater goals of the Mass centre and youth group. Fr. Kiran introduced and explained the Salesian Youth Movement and its mission, core values, and how it serves as a dynamic platform for spiritual and personal growth of the youth group.
The high point of the day was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, which brought everyone together in prayer and thanksgiving. The homily, centered on youth as 'ACP' who are 'Appointed' , 'Commissioned' and 'Prayerfull' by God to do his mission on this earth by being true witnesses.
After having delicious Lunch the youth the youth had badminton tournament where they relaxed and enjoyed themselves with competitive spirit.As the program came to a close, there was a visible transformation in the energy and spirit of the participants. The youth expressed their joy and gratitude, with many stating that the formation day had strengthened their faith and given them a renewed desire to serve God and the Church. The youth felt that this formation program was not just an event - it was an experience of communion, growth, and empowerment. With hearts renewed and spirits lifted, our youth returned home ready to be bold witnesses of Christ in today’s world.
