IGNITE Night Vigil Ignites Faith and Fellowship Among Youth

The Catholic Youth of North Goa gathered at Don Bosco Tuem for an electrifying and spiritually enriching Night Vigil, IGNITE, held on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The event was marked by moments of deep prayer, reflection, and fellowship, leaving the young participants spiritually renewed and strengthened in their faith.

The night began with an inspiring session, Introduction to the Night Vigil was conducted by Fr. Sheldon Fernandes, who emphasized the significance of dedicating an entire night to prayer, allowing oneself to be immersed in God’s presence. This set the tone for the vigil, which was interwoven with uplifting Praise and Worship sessions led by the renowned gospel band All 4 Jesus. The youth sang their hearts out, lifting their voices in adoration and surrender.

In between these powerful moments of worship, the other sessions unfolded. Fr. Austin Fernandes led a thought-provoking session on Preparation for Confession, helping the youth examine their lives and open their hearts to God’s mercy. Cl. Neil Fernandes then engaged the participants with a compelling discussion on Is being a Catholic relevant today?, sparking meaningful reflections and reinforcing the importance of embracing the Catholic faith in contemporary society.

A highlight of the night was the Taizé Worship, led by Fr. Sheldon Fernandes and Cl. Neil Fernandes, which provided a serene and meditative atmosphere, helping the youth enter into deeper prayer through chants, scripture, and silence. Many expressed how the experience moved them profoundly.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation was another pivotal moment, as many young people availed themselves of the opportunity for Confession, experiencing God’s unconditional love and forgiveness.

The culmination of the vigil was the Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Fr. Benson Po, who in his homily urged the youth to work in solidarity with the Church and emphasized that youth leadership is the need of the hour. His message was a call to action for young Catholics to take an active role in their faith communities.

The event was graced by the presence of Fr. Wilfred Fernandes, Fr. Adrian Pinto, Fr. Savio Dias, Fr. Richard Correia, and Cl. Godwin Naik, who encouraged the youth throughout the night with their prayers and support.

As dawn approached, the participants left with hearts ablaze, truly IGNITED by the experience. The night was a testament to the power of faith, community, and the unwavering love of Christ in the lives of young Catholics.
