Jordan's Call 2024

Jordan's Call 2024, organized by Don Bosco Youth Services (INP) in collaboration with the youth of Don Bosco Quepem, took place on December 7-8, 2024, at the DB Vocational Training Institute, Quepem, Goa. This overnight event aimed to spiritually prepare young participants for Christmas and was attended by 25 participants under the guidance of Fr. Austin, Fr. Ronald and Fr. Marvin, with Selwin and Lenifa serving as the main coordinators.

The event began on December 7 with registrations and refreshments. At 6:30 PM, Fr. Ronald sdb conducted engaging icebreaker activities, fostering interaction among participants. This was followed by the first session, The Christmas Crib Speaks to Us, delivered by Fr. Banzelao SDB. This insightful talk explored the significance of crib figures as described in Pope Francis' Apostolic Letter, Admirabile Signum. Participants were engaged in an activity to identify inaccuracies in biblical verses about Jesus’ birth before delving into the symbolism of characters like the Holy Family, shepherds, and angels.

At 8:00 PM, the rosary, led by Lenifa, was held in a walking procession around the venue, culminating in dinner, where grace was led by Fr. Austin SDB. The evening concluded with a campfire session by Fr. Ronald SDB, emphasizing personal preparation for Christmas and the value of good confessions. The night ended with a peaceful Taizé prayer and confessions led by Fr. Austin.

Day 2 began with a 6:30 AM wake-up call, followed by Baptismal Promises, a reflective session led by Fr. Christovan sdb. Participants renewed their baptismal promises through prayer and a symbolic water-pouring ritual. After breakfast, Fr. Austin conducted a session on The Jesse Tree, highlighting 28 biblical symbols that narrate salvation history leading to Jesus' birth. Participants created and decorated a Jesse Tree with symbolic drawings.

The next session, True Meaning of Bethlehem, by Fr. Constantine sdb, explained biblical numerology and the theological importance of Jesus’ birth. He emphasized on how the Salvation of mankind by God's forgiveness starts from the Birth of Jesus and not from his death on the Cross. This was followed by Waiting for the Lord, a session by Fr. Simao SDB, which reflected on the virtues of patience, trust, and prayer through biblical examples of waiting.

The event concluded with a Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Ronald, Fr. Austin, and Fr. Simao. Before lunch, participants exchanged Christmas-themed gifts, adding to the festive spirit.

Jordan's Call 2024 was a resounding success, blending insightful sessions, spiritual activities, and festive camaraderie. It effectively prepared participants for Christmas, instilling in them deeper faith and joy.
