Don Bosco Loutolim Hosts Dynamic Leadership Program for 68 Studying Youth

On July 10, 2025 Don Bosco Loutolim successfully conducted a comprehensive Leadership Program that brought together 68 students from diverse academic backgrounds for an intensive session focused on developing essential leadership skills and understanding their role in society.

The program, held at the Don Bosco campus in Loutolim, attracted participants from Higher Secondary School, NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Diploma Course programs, creating a rich mix of perspectives and experiences. Fr. Marvin Vaz SDB, Director of the college, opened the session by welcoming the participants and introducing the animation team from Don Bosco Youth Services. The facilitation was led by Fr. Austin Fernandes SDB, Director of Don Bosco Youth Services, alongside Luke Pereira, who brought their expertise in youth development and leadership training to the program.

During his introductory remarks, Fr. Marvin explained the purpose and objectives of the leadership initiative, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young leaders who can make meaningful contributions to their communities and future workplaces. The 90-minute intensive session was carefully structured to maximize engagement and learning outcomes. The program featured a dynamic combination of ice-breaker activities, interactive exercises, and thought-provoking games designed to help participants discover their leadership potential and understand their responsibilities.

The session provided valuable insights into leadership principles, helping young people recognize their crucial role across three key spheres: personal development, societal contribution, and professional excellence in their chosen industries. Through practical activities and guided discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of how effective leadership can create positive change in their immediate environment and beyond.

The interactive format ensured high participation levels, with students actively engaging in team-building exercises and leadership challenges that reinforced the theoretical concepts presented during the session. Fr. Austin Fernandes SDB commented on the enthusiasm displayed by the participants, noting their eagerness to learn and apply leadership principles in their academic and personal lives. The diverse representation from different educational streams added richness to the discussions and collaborative activities.

The program represents Don Bosco Loutolim's continued commitment to holistic education that extends beyond academic excellence to include character formation and leadership development. Such initiatives align with the Salesian educational philosophy of preparing young people to become responsible citizens and future leaders in their respective fields.

The success of this leadership program sets the foundation for future youth development initiatives at Don Bosco Loutolim, as the institution continues to invest in programs that empower students with essential life skills and leadership competencies.
